It Makes Sense?

As I sat watching a certain cell phone commercial I overheard the comment "it makes sense if you don't think about it". I believe that there are many in our government who believe that we are unthinking. How else can you explain the fact that we have been told for the last few years that if you give more tax breaks that it will broaden the tax base? They say that it will cause them to spend more money.which will bring more jobs which will bring in more taxes. I agree, it makes sense if you don't think about it. For many decades we have given tax breaks to the major oil companies to research alternative fuels. Why in the world would oil companies want to shoot themselves in the foot by enabling us to stop using what they supply. It makes sense if you don't think about it. They believe that we will vote allow them to turn medicare into a voucher system. That would limit everyone's medical benefits to $12,000-$15,000 a year. What would happen in case of catastrophic illness? If you are not rich your loved one would be left out in the cold because the burden would be on the family of that person. Yep, it makes sense if you don't think about it. We have been told that free trade would bring jobs into the country because of imports. Well the imports did come but the jobs went. They went to places where it was ten times cheaper to manufacture and then shipped back into the U. S. to be sold at the same prices as before. The manufacturers who moved their business are making profits hand over fist and do not have to pay any amount of tariffs at all. It makes sense if you don't think about it. We need fair trade not free trade! And there are many other things that have been done over the past thirty years since Ronald Reagan was president that have been pushed by conservatives that won't hold water, but have been accepted as gospel the majority. It doesn't make sense! Would people rather believe a lie than the truth? It seems so!
