America's Sin.

The breadbasket of the country is in a devastating drought. On top of that there is word that the genetically engineered Monsanto super corn has created some super bugs (Mother Jones) that thrive in the drought. Farmers who don't use the Monsanto product say that the Monsanto corn has been creeping into their fields and have filed suit against them. The state of Texas, which was previously unknown for having earthquakes, has had nearly ten earthquakes in a relatively small region in northeastern Texas, has had nearly ten quakes in only a few months time in aplace where there has been a new tecnology, called fracking (short for hydraulic fracturing), is being used. Each quake has a corresponding fracking well in the near vicinity. Many claim ther is a correlation between the wells and the quakes, which, of course is denied by the oil companies using the procedure. In the northeast there have been record setting high temperatures for weeks on end, the likes of which I don't think I have seen in my lifetime. What is causing all of this turmoil. Does anybody have a clue? Could it be the sins of the nation?
Usually when someone speaks negatively about the US, many say that they're unpatriotic. And when we speak of the sins of the nation many begin to think about such things as abortion, homosexualism, child predators, drug dealing and all of the violence that goes on in our society. But no one sees anything wrong with the proliferation of guns (all types of weapons) in our society and those that are being sold by the US Department of Defense throughout the entire world.
Because of it's benevolence, after WWII the US was the most admired country on the face of the earth, bar none. By the time of the Viet Nam war, when there were tv sets in nearly home, you could see signs from various countries that said"yankees go home" And that downward spiral has continued until this day. Why is it that none of our political leaders seem able to figure out why this is.
Do other countries hate us? If so, why? What have we done? Do we even want to know the answers to these questions? If we really want to know, the answers are not that hard to find. Start at the first conflict after WWII, Korea. On the Korean peninsule we wanted to get a foothold, supposedly to halt the influence of communism. So an incident was manifactured as a pretense for conflict between North and South Korea. In comes the arms manufacturers. Divided country, unending occupation. In the case of Viet Nam, an incident was manfactured in the Gulf of Tonkin to bring us into the picture after the French failed in their mission there. Another destroyed country, much of the destruction caused by the American military and arms manufacturers. And since then the same scenario has been repeated numerous times throughout the world. Weapons manufactured in the US and the use of our military to force the will of this country on so many others across the world has caused the loss of untold millions (not thousands) of lives the world over. Were the lives of those people precious? Maybe not to anybody in this country, but they surely wre to their families and friends in their own countries. Do we believe that American lives are worth everything and people's lives in other countries are worth not anything? I believe that is just what many Americans think!
I know this is the place where i will be called unpatriotic, but I beg to differ. It is when you can see and tell the truth that shows whether you love this country or not. Ther was a man named Jeremiah who lived in Israel many centuries ago, who exposed the sins of the nation. All of the leaders of the nation were infuriated at Jeremiah and he put in prison for his warnings, but he was told not to be afraid. He was to keep warning the nation until the appointed time. Though it hurt him to pronounce judgment on his own nation Jeremiah was true to his calling until that was led away into captivity. Jeremiah was called the weeping prophet because the whole time he was pronouncing God's judgment on his own nation he wept for them, as I do for America. I hear a lot of politicians these days calling down God's blessings on America. God has and continues to bless America, but the tragedy of Sept,11, 2001 was the handwriting on the wall for us. If this country, beginning with our leaders, does not repent of it's pride, injustice and waywardness, God's judgment on the US will come to pass on this country. We may not go into captivity, but God can and will, as we are seeing, remove His blessings from this nation. What is it, do you think, that all those wildfires, hurricanes, tornadoes and searing heat represent? We have never seen these things so rampant before! And again, unless we repent as a nation things will get much worse. And I'll close this article with a scripture; II Chronicles 7;14 says "If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves (the opposite of pride), turn from their wicked ways, pray, and seek my face, then I will hear from heaven, I will forgive their sins and heal the land". But like all the other great civilzations of the past, America nor it's citizens will humble themselves to a God they can't see, even proof of His existence is everywhere. So my earnest prayer for our country is "Lord, have mercy on America".
